Rudy wasn’t allowed ashore in Bermuda because he was too young. After not going ashore for 26 days, Rudy was READY. As we sailed toward the Azorean island of Flores on June 30th, Rudy’s little nose started twitching. When we were within an hour of our arrival, Suzanne looked at Rudy and said the magic words he’d been waiting so long to hear: “Want to go for a WALK?” Oh my, what a reaction! His little head snapped around and he stared at her in shock. Then he started bouncing around and wouldn’t take his eyes off that island! Two weeks later when we left the Azores for Portugal, Rudy groaned, “Not another month at sea!” Fortunately, the third leg of the trip was only 6 days, but Rudy didn’t know that until we arrived outside Lisbon. He was happy that the long trip was finally over. From now on we’ll only go to sea in the daytime and Rudy can go for walks ashore in all kinds of interesting places every day. Oh boy!
